Born 1956, lives in Graz. Sound and media artist, sound and interaction designer and tinkerer with software and electronic devices. His main instruments are guitar and computer/electronics. Together with Anette Gießriegl and Josef Klammer he leads and organizes the Styrian Improvisers Orchestra.
He holds a Phd in medicine and is visiting professor for sound design at the Danube University Krems. Besides he is on the board of the Institute for Media Archaeology and the Styrian Association for New and Improvised Music.
Currently he he teaches sound and interaction design and perception psychology at the Institute for Design and Communication/FH JOANNEUM where he was head of the master' programs Communication, Media, Sound and Interaction Design from 2007 to 2017.
Josef (Seppo) Gründler has been working in the field of new media since 1982. He has composed music for computer games, theater, film, media and sound installations. He has presented his work at Ars Electronica, Wiener Festwochen, Steirischer Herbst, the Knitting Factory New York, Sonambiente Berlin, Transmediale Berlin, City of Women Festival Ljubljana, Fine senca fine – Venice, Trentino, Budapest, Graz, etc.
He has recorded numerous CDs and is currently giving concerts with the Klammer&Gründler Duo, Singing Adorno solo and in various formations.
