Nick Acorne is a sound artist working as a composer, performer, and interactive media artist. He holds master’s degrees in both classical composition and electronic composition from the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, as well as in sound design from FH JOANNEUM. Nick blends acoustic musical instruments with DIY sensor-based instruments, game controllers (such as joysticks, flight simulators, and gamepads), sensors, circuit-bent toys, computer-processed or generated electronic sounds, AI-generated sounds, voices, and prepared detuned pianos to create expressive live performances, often guided by sensor-based choreography, as well as theater music.

Nick also creates participatory performances, including “Remote Control,” “BUY,-,” “PAY,” “RUBILOVO,” and “IX KLA VIER E.” He composes theater music and develops interactive light, sound, and media installations, as well as interactive and audio-generative systems for theaters. His work involves real-time score generation based on sensor data, sound analysis, and eye tracking.
