Echo Ho's journey as an artist and performer has been a constant dance of creation and exploration. Echo has always been drawn to the intersections of art, philosophy, culture, and technology. Born in Beijing, moved to Hongkong and is now based in Cologne, Germany. Her philosophical understanding of music is informed by a deep engagement with the musical history of the guqin, which spans three millennia. She has been working on the artistic research project SlowQin since 2007. SlowQin transfers the traditional string instrument guqin into contemporary art and music contexts; it seeks new musical expressions by reimagining the ancient in the post-digital age. She has crafted a unique artistic practice that blends various media forms and materials, often resulting in genre-breaking performances and installations or multimedia productions.
Echo's works have been featured at venues including the He Xiangning Art Museum Shenzhen, Center-A Vancouver, ISEA 2010 Germany, and ZKM Karlsruhe. She has also been a fellow and taught at various institutions. Currently, Echo is a doctoral candidate at the Tangible Music Lab in Linz, Austria.
